Tom specializes in executive talent management and team effectiveness, including succession, assessment, development, and coaching. Tom has worked with clients at every level of the leadership pipeline, in just about every industry, on five continents. He has general management experience, having led local and regional business units of up to 100 professional services employees, including degreed professionals.
Tom founded an executive talent management consulting firm in 2012 after nearly 30 years in a variety of consulting and business leadership roles, including vice president, general manager, and region leader with two leading talent management consulting firms. In his spare time, Tom has held visiting or adjunct faculty appointments in business, psychology, and statistics at the University of Tennessee, Rice University, the University of Houston, and Elmhurst University.
Tom is licensed by the state of Tennessee as an industrial organizational psychologist. He received a B.S. in biology and psychology from Elmhurst University (Illinois), and a Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology with a minor in statistics from the University of Tennessee. His doctoral dissertation on managerial selection won the International Personnel Management Association annual student paper award.
