CI Financial is an independent company offering global wealth management and asset management advisory services.  Since the company began in 1965, they have grown substantially across North American and now reports total assets of more than $389 billion dollars.

Problem

CI Financial engaged Felix to assist them in finding a Head of Total Rewards.  The company had made more than 25 acquisitions over the last 3 years across North America.  With 25 acquisitions, there were now 25 unique and varied compensation plans.  The organization had the massive task of standardizing compensation across multiple offices and various countries.

This was a critical search for the company to undertake and Felix was able to provide significant examples of our previous success in the Financial Services industry.  The role was complex and required someone with significant demonstrated success in understanding Total Rewards, communicating changes, and getting alignment for all new employees of the various acquisitions.  With its origins in Canada, specifically Toronto, and most of the recent acquisitions scattered across the United States, it was determined the individual in this role could be located in Toronto, the Canadian head office, Miami, the US head office, or possibly New York.

Impact & Results 

Six incredibly talented candidates were presented to CI Financial for consideration, despite the uniqueness of the market in each of the three key cities.  In the end, a candidate out of New York was selected and offered the position.

How Felix Made A Difference

Felix partnered closely with the head of human resources to fully understand the nuances of the role and the extraordinary challenge required for this individual to undertake.  A massive research process began to identify key people with the right experience in Total Rewards who could embrace this opportunity and oversee the change management process for North America. Once key talent was identified in all three cities, Felix mobilized quickly to engage the individuals on the role and assess their capabilities.  Within weeks, Felix was able to present a cross-section of individuals in all three key cities.
