The Advisory Board for Felix is a group of accomplished civic and industry leaders who are deeply committed to the development of great organizations. They provide Felix with new insights and advice to solve business problems or explore new markets. They challenge our strategic thinking and access expertise and connections that may not be readily available via other means. They are an invaluable resource for Felix and our customers.

Dave Coolidge

David Coolidge is Vice Chairman of William Blair & Company, a private investment banking and money management firm. In addition to serving as the firm’s CEO from 1995 to 2004, he has dedicated his 50+ year career to financing and building prosperous companies. Through a unique combination of financial, operational, and investment insight, Coolidge has established long-term relationships with small to medium-sized companies, and guided executive teams through evolutionary business cycles to sustained financial and market success.

As a senior executive of William Blair & Company for more than 50 years, Coolidge traversed strong and weak industry, investment and economic climates by focusing on core business philosophies instead of fleeting market trends. He provided financial guidance to support start-up ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and financial restructuring, and public/private debt and equity financing. He has also leveraged the firm’s employee-owned private structure to recruit & retain key professionals.

Coolidge has served on numerous boards of directors including Kmart Holding Co., Coverall of North America, Duluth Trading Co., the Securities Industry Association, and the National Association of Securities Dealers. He is a Trustee Emeritus of Williams College and the University of Chicago and currently serves as a Trustee of Rush University Medical Center and the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation.

Coolidge holds a BA from Williams College and MBA from the Harvard Graduate Business School of Administration.

Ron-Culp
Ron Culp, Culp & Co., Principal & DePaul University, Professional in Residence

Ron Culp

Ron Culp is the founder and principal of Culp & Co. and professional in residence in the graduate public relations and advertising program at DePaul University. Prior to starting his own PR consultancy, Ron was a partner at Ketchum, a global public relations firm, where he was Managing Director of the Midwest Operations of Ketchum. Previously, Culp founded and served as Managing Director of the Chicago office of Sard Verbinnen & Company, a leading financial communications firm. Throughout his professional career, Culp has created communications strategies for shareholders, employees, customers, and the public through his roles as a corporate communications, public relations, and government affairs executive with four Fortune 500 corporations.

Culp’s vision, counsel and strategies have steered communications and government affairs at Sears, Sara Lee Corporation, Pitney Bowes and Eli Lilly and Company. Throughout his career, he has helped employers and clients manage through Congressional hearings, product recalls, financial restructuring, organizational transformation, mergers and acquisitions, and other high-profile activities. Behind the scenes, he also developed award-winning employee communications, corporate philanthropy, and community relations initiatives. He led the Sears Roebuck Foundation and earlier helped Sara Lee earn a worldwide reputation as a leading corporate sponsor of the arts.

Culp is active in several nonprofit and professional organizations, including the Economic Club of Chicago, the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, Gilda’s Club Chicago and the Museum of Public Relations. He has received numerous awards for his professional leadership, including top lifetime achievement awards from the Arthur W. Page Society and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). He’s the only individual to be recognized for career achievement by both the Chicago and New York chapters of PRSA.

Culp holds a bachelor’s degree in pre-law from Indiana State University and received the college’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2002. He delivered the university’s Commencement address in 2018. Long known for his skills at developing talent and mentoring, Culp has created scholarships for first-generation students at his alma mater as well as DePaul University. He also has endowed a scholarship through the PRSA Foundation that recognizes student mentors.

Deirdre-Drake

Deirdre Drake

Ms. Drake retired from UScellular Corporation in 2022 after a 33-year career in human resources. She joined UScellular Corporation in 2014 as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2018, and assumed the role of Executive Vice President, Chief People Officer, and Head of Communications in 2020. From 2006 to 2014, Ms. Drake served as Chief Human Resources Officer for The Bank of Montreal Financial Group in the BMO Harris Bank and BMO Capital Markets Divisions. From 1995 to 2006, Ms. Drake held a number of senior management roles with ARAMARK Corporation. Ms. Drake serves on the Board of Directors of UScellular Corporation (NYSE: USM) and TopBuild (NYSE: BLD). Ms. Drake earned a bachelor’s degree in human resources from Central Michigan University, and a Master’s degree in business administration from St. Joseph’s University.

Gail-Meneley-Goodwin

Gail Meneley-Goodwin

Gail Meneley-Goodwin was one of eight founders of the Center for Executive Options and helped grow its Midwest executive coaching and transition practice into the global practice profit leader. In 2003, she and her partner, Hugh Shields, launched and co-founded Shields Meneley Partners, providing confidential advisory services to C-Suite executives and Board of Directors during times of organizational and professional transition. Shields Meneley Partners was acquired by Felix Global in 2021 and she currently sits on the Advisory Board.

Mrs. Meneley-Goodwin has extensive business experience at top executive levels within the financial services and nonprofit sectors. She was President and CEO of the Institute of Financial Education, a national financial services training organization headquartered in Chicago with 250 locations across the country. In successive leadership roles, she spearheaded the spin-off of The Institute and successfully led its transition from a single market to a full-service provider of financial education and training. She secured capital for market expansion, reengineered the corporation, restructured the executive team, recruited board members from target markets, reduced operating costs, built a national sales organization, established strategic alliances, and drove product and delivery innovations.

Formerly, Mrs. Meneley-Goodwin was a Board member for United States League Management Services. She has been a keynote speaker and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun Times, Crain’s Chicago, Smart Business, Human Resource Executive, and Directors and Boards magazines. She holds a B.A. from Mundelein College of Loyola University and has participated in executive programs at the University of Texas, the University of Washington, and the University of Southern California. She is active in many civic, cultural, and business organizations including The Economic Club of Chicago, The Chicago Club and The Chicago Network.

Scott Mordell

Scott is a strategic global business leader that has served as chief executive for six different businesses and CFO in two. His experience revitalizing businesses and driving growth crosses many industries. Scott is most widely known from his tenure as global CEO of YPO (Young President’s Organization). The YPO community includes more than 33,000 CEO member across more than 140 countries. His extensive background in varying industries, geographies, types of organizations and business disciplines has helped him develop important leadership lessons and collaboration skills for success. Scott currently advised leaders through Forrader Group LLC and serves on boards.

Ryan-Ruskin

Ryan Ruskin

Ryan is the President & CEO of The Ruskin Group, a fourth-generation family packaging company – founded in 1893, recognized as a world leader in sustainability and e-commerce packaging, and the first packaging company to be certified as an LGBT-owned business enterprise. In its plastics division, The Ruskin Group recently launched a suite of revolutionary products, including ECLIPSE which makes most plastic products truly biodegradable, leaving nothing behind. In 2015, Ryan assumed the role of non-executive chairman of MyEco, a sustainability education business he helped found that uses technology and innovative products to help consumers break disposable habits through education, positive reinforcement, social engagement and financial incentives. Previously, he was a management consultant with A.T. Kearney.

Ryan currently serves on the boards of: Field Museum, Chicago Botanic Garden, Chicago Humanities Festival, Heartland Alliance, Duke of Edinburgh Award, and Shady Side Academy. Ryan is a member of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Council of Princeton University, the immediate past president of The Wayfarer’s Club, and the second vice-chair of the Economic Club of Chicago.

Ryan earned a B.A. in History and American Studies from Princeton University, an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and an M.E.M. from its McCormick School of Engineering. He is a member of the 2012 class of the Emerging Leaders Program of Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Young Presidents’ Organization, and Chief Executives Organization. Ryan has been active in local and national politics since college, most recently serving as a Transition Co-Chair for Illinois Governor-elect Bruce Rauner in 2014. In 2015, Ryan was appointed and confirmed as a member of the Illinois Executive Ethics Commission. Ryan is a 2013 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
